Campaigns and segments
A campaign is a broadcast configured for a segment and sent from a WhatsApp instance. The two concepts are deliberately separate: the segment answers "to whom", the campaign answers "what, from where and when". The same segment can feed several campaigns over time.
Building a segment
A segment is a set of contacts defined by filters, not a fixed list. It is re-evaluated at broadcast time, so a contact who starts matching the filters after you saved the segment is included in the next campaign automatically.
Use the preview before saving. It shows how many contacts the filter reaches right now and a sample of who they are. A segment that returns zero contacts saves without complaint — the preview is the only place that mistake surfaces before the broadcast.
Creating and sending a campaign
A campaign belongs to an instance. That is not an organisational detail: it is the number the recipient will see, and the WhatsApp service window is counted per number.
The lifecycle is draft → sending → finished, with two possible interruptions:
- Pause stops the send without losing progress. Anyone who already received the message will not receive it again when you resume.
- Resume continues from where it stopped.
A campaign also accepts a send window per day of the week. Outside the window, the broadcast pauses on its own and resumes in the next valid period.
Tracking recipients
Every campaign recipient has its own status. The recipients screen is where you see who received, who failed, and why — invalid number, a contact who blocked the number, or a temporary delivery failure.
Retrying only the failures
When part of a broadcast fails, retry only the failed recipients. The action reprocesses just those contacts and leaves everyone who already received it untouched.
Links and metrics
Links in the campaign body are rewritten to allow click counting. The campaign report shows deliveries, failures and clicks per link; the reports screen aggregates that by period.
Limits worth knowing
- A contact who has never messaged the company can only be reached through a Meta-approved template on the Official API.
- Broadcast throughput is limited per instance, not per campaign. Two concurrent campaigns on the same instance share the same capacity.
